High blood cholesterol: causes and symptoms

Increased levels of cholesterol in the blood or blood vessels can lead to the formation of plaque in the arteries that can cause different health issues and harm indications. But, the high cholesterol content itself doesn't generally cause direct effects, and suffering people may not experience anything until the cholesterol saturation has affects noteworthy damage to the blood vessels. The increased cholesterol levels caused symptoms in the human body some of them are described below:

1. Chest pain:

A feeling of pressure or tightness in the chest, particularly during physical activity, during work, or in stress condition.

Causes: It is also called ‘Angina’. The formation of plaque is in the coronary arteries which can restrict usual blood flow to the heart that causing chest pain, discomfort, or angina.

2. Shortening of breath:

Difficulty in catching your breath, feeling winded after exertion, orb sometimes at rest.

Causes: The reduced flow of blood to the heart or lungs parts is due to narrowed arteries occurred by cholesterol saturation which can lead to difficulty in breathing.

3. High blood pressure:

It may cause feeling of pressure in the head, headaches, dizziness, or nosebleeds.

Causes: It is also called the hypertension. The formation of plaque in the arteries results in narrowing the arteries, which making arteries harder for blood to flow suddenly that increases pressure on the walls of arteries.

4. Fatigue:

Unexplained weakness or tiredness, particularly during physical activity or during work.

Causes: The reduced blood flow to other body organs and tissues can result in fatigue, low energy, and general tiredness.

5. Heart attack:

Deep or intense chest pain, sweating, nausea, dizziness, and pain radiating down the arm or to the jaw or back.

Causes: A rupture or dissolution of plaque caused by cholesterol in the arteries can block blood flow to the heart that may cause a heart attack.

6. Stroke:

Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg particularly one side of the body, confusion, difficulty speaking, or sudden trouble in seeing.

Causes: When plaque formation restricts normal blood flow to the brain, it can cause a brain stroke.

7. Peripheral artery disease (PAD):

Experience in leg pain during walking, cramping, or weakness in the legs, and cold or pale legs or feet.

Causes: High cholesterol saturation in the arteries that supply blood to the limbs can cause difficulty in blood circulation.

8. Xanthomas:

The small, yellowish bumps or patches appear on the skin, which are the visible signs of cholesterol saturation.

Causes: In some cases, high cholesterol can lead to the formation of yellowish fatty deposits under the skin, often around the eyes, elbows, or tendons.

9. Memory problems or cognitive decline:

Difficulty concentrating, memory lapses, and confusion.

Causes: Reduced blood flow to the brain may also affect cognitive function over time.

Long-term effects of high cholesterol:

The high cholesterol can lead to atherosclerosis means the narrowing and hardening of the arteries, which increases the risk of serious cardiovascular disease like heart attacks, strokes, and peripheral artery disease (PAD). It is important to get cholesterol levels diagnosed frequently, as high cholesterol can regularly go unnoticed without clear effects until significant damage occurs.
